This black and white gingham blazer is my second blazer from Veronica Beard and I found both of them at Nordstrom Rack! I had always wanted a plaid timeless blazer and this fit the bill perfectly! The blazer came with me to Massachusetts earlier this Summer and was so cute with cutoffs and a flowy black tank. Transitioning into Fall (which I don’t have any business doing yet) I paired it with a tee shirt, denim and flats – this combo will be on high rotation through Fall. Then when winter comes around a cool all-black look is on docket!

Insta Outfits
#nonewclothes is making it kinda hard to have the drive to do full-blown outfit shoots anymore…sorry!! Tagging all of the products worn in these outfits from the past two weeks that I posted on instagram!

Styling White Jeans in The Winter
As my mom was taking these photos she was saying “your Mimi would be so disappointed that you’re wearing white jeans in the winter”!! Well, sorry Mimi it is 2018 and I love me a winter white moment. The hard thing with wearing white jeans in the winter is that most of my tops/sweaters are darker colors making it a super harsh contrast. Layering it or wearing lighter or more oversized tops seems to help!

Denim and Blazer Layers
This blazer and denim jacket layers combo is perfect if you’re in a climate that is cold but not freezing. Speaking of being cold, my fingers are semi-uncomfortable typing this because it is cold here in Houston and I am 1. cheap 2. hate artificial heat so…being cold it is.
If you are a good friend of mine or have been reading this blog when it was called Simply Southern you may have heard this theory of mine: We are prettier in the cold. When it is cold your skin gets rose-y in a cute way compared to when it’s hot outside and your skin is red from sweat which is not cute at all. We look cute when our nose is a little red after walking outside for a minute, flushed in the best way possible.
Okay, back to the outfit. Being in Houston investing in more coats is not something I think is worthy so layering lightweight jackets will have to do. In this exact situation, the only cons were that I wish I had worn a sweater over my tee shirt and had put on a coat coat over my blazer. Once entering a bar or restaurant I didn’t have a layer to automatically shed which felt a little unnatural in this weather.

Ghost from NYE Pasts
I have to be that person real quick because all I see in that fur outfit is how damn plump my face is! Okay moving along, clearly I this feather skirt holds a special new years eve place in my heart. I think last years outfit was my favorite, sweater and boots made it a little less oh hot damn girl, you got on a feather skirt!
The fun sequin dress in the selfie picture I wore on New Years last year but only ended up going to an early bird dinner and a movie. So, I brought it out again for a Holiday Party last weekend and she was a hit! I have always loved looking through ebay or the outnet for designer pieces that I know the specifics of.
Sorry for being MIA around here- kinda needed a mental break and will be refreshed in the new year! Hope you all have a great new years eve!

insta-outfits
As you may have seen on my Instagram this past weekend I am starting a new #TLoSNoNewClothes series, if you will. Like the saying ‘No New Friends’, no new clothes is in honor of my current lack of income and not being able to shop. From here on out (no idea when this phase has an end date) 100% of my outfits will be made of items already in my closet. The one thing that is allowing me not to get bored with this (so far) is that I thankfully have new pieces that I have purchased since last winter. So there are tons of combos that have never been worn! Each roundup will have outfit notes to hopefully inspire you to keep wearing your oldies.

Staple sweater from Gap about 2.5 years ago (last seen here and here) that has way too many pills on it but is the perfect length and color! Honestly, if I had the money I would either get this skirt (last seen here) tailored or get a new one because this one is too big. But, you can easily hide that by wearing a longer sweater that will flow over it instead of tucking one in all the way around!

White and camel, kinda basic bitch but it works for a reason. This outfit was also perfect for days where it gets warmer in the middle of the day because I could shed the scarf and still be in a cute outfit. I did ditch the sweater at one point too and that was not as cute haha. This FP scarf is also soo cozy and hasn’t gotten that overly worn outlook and I wore it nonstop last year!

This sweater was everywhere last year and I really try and not buy things I will only wear one season so here it is. I really hesitated even buying the sweater for this exact reason so I am forcing myself to wear it this year.
