In every apartment I have lived in I always say “well it would be clean and organized if I had a place for everything!” – excuses excuses Emily! But then, Mike and I moved into this full blown HOME and everything has a place and it feels AMAZING! Decorating this house has been a dream, there were only a few things that needed to be purchased and before we moved in I decorated a journal to the house. A page for each room with what I have, what I need and a wish list! After being in the house for about 3ish months, I am confident in saying the only thing truly missing is art on the walls!
Going to start with the living room. And quick PSA, if you are not on FB Marketplace – go now!! I am obsessed, you are thrifting from your couch! Is there a lot of junk? For sure, but join neighborhood groups and I promise you’ll find gems.
Between the vibe I wanted and the pieces I had, it got very brown, very quickly. To balance it out I added pops of blue and green and lots of plants!
I don’t LOVE the couch, but it works and was purchased off FB Marketplace. Blue linen pillow cases from Etsy that are very #EdithHour and approved by Mike. The club chairs, table and foot stool are all vintage from various locations. The stacks of books are not only on topics I enjoy but match the color scheme. As you will notice I collect match books so on the coffee table lives, vintage cut glass bowl, candle, vintage plate, wick trimmer and unique vase.

New England Loom
Have you heard of New England Loom? My friend Katie told me about the Instagram account/website a few months ago and I got my first rug last week! Based in Boston, she posts rugs with their dimensions throughout the week and then everyday Sunday night they go live on the website! I have been wanting a small vintage rug for my bathroom and got this cutie from her. I soon realized that the people who have similar rugs in their bathroom on Pinterest are either lying or it is their guest/powder room…aka not a lot of post-shower standing lol.
The little nugget quickly moved to the side of my bed. Where I kinda like it layered on the classic/coastal blue and white rug. Not everyone in my life agrees, but it’s my room, right? The blue and white rug “should” be bigger but I have what I have. Now just need to find the second one on the other side of the bed. Thinking I could even do one that is slightly longer and have a cool balance..thoughts?

Boston pt.1 – interiors
I spent this past weekend/week in Boston with one of my favorite people in world Katie, and her boyfriend Jake. She has always had AMAZING interior style but she has really outdone herself in her current apartment. A lot of her finds are from antique stores around the country, which is a skill in and of its own. Their home is a perfectly gender neutral, not too girly and not too masculine so they both love it equally.
Here are a few tips from Katie about decorating your home when moving in with your boyfriend.
1. Take your time– Especially when it comes to the big decisions. Moving in with your significant other is a huge life step. When I say our apartment was practically empty for two months after we moved in (other than a bed and a couch) I’m being dead serious! It was important to me that my boyfriend Jake and I enjoyed the process together and found items that we’d both like for a long time. Lucky for me, he loves design and kept me great company while planning and shopping. Aside from the financial investment in big furniture pieces, I wanted to be sure we were achieving an aesthetic that made us both feel at home. In retrospect, I wouldn’t have traded a mostly empty apartment for the world and I’m incredibly glad we chose to take it slow.

home update pt1
As you saw on my social I moved this past weekend! It was way too hard to try and find a place in Houston while living in Nashville. So I lived with my parents for the past few months until I settled down and found somewhere I loved! Which is the cutest little 1 bedroom in a old-er “building” (its 8 units i don’t know what to call it) that was recently renovated! The posts around here have been beyond LAME because I cannot get off craigslist, facebook, RugsUSA, pinterest….but it is time to get off because the place is FINE for now and I need to CHILL the F out haha.
I did want to share a few things I found and share where i got them! Before I moved in I started looking for the two big pieces I needed: couch & kitchen table. For the table I wanted something wood and modern…my “interior designer” (my roommate in Nashville who I posted a lot about on instagram) directed me towards that to pair with my lucite chairs and hide rug! I found the table on craigslist for….$60!
Second was the couch…I had/have a super small budget so I was all over craiglist and facebook marketplace. Backup…did you know FB Marketplace was a thing? I had always heard of it / seen it on the app but never used it…until now! I like it because you can see the person selling and they are more eager to respond to a fb message than a email. I was looking for something neutral, wide, with a high back. Well those were all things i liked in couches but was really open to anything** I found this baby on facebook for a wopppping $120! She is in near perfect condition and is so comfortable. My parents actually were jealous and offered to buy it from me!
Tips: know what you are looking for in detail, search multiple names because everyone calls something different. IF you have time scroll through FB without any searches because you may call something X but someone may call it the opposite.
The cute bamboo table i got at a antique shop and just need a little marble or mirror slab for it!

In the kitchen: Summer Berry Salad

This summer berry salad has pretty much been my staple meal the past month and I don’t see it going anywhere! It is full of flavor, filling and contains ingredients that aren’t a pain to buy or put together!
What you’ll need:
- Spinach
- Half an Avocado
- Feta
- Grilled Chicken
- Sliced Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Lemon
- Olive Oil if you want
- Almond slice, also optional in my book.
When I was telling my mom about this summer berry salad recipe she got very “well how much of everything”. Which I cannot handle because in my book it is “how every much your heart desires!!!” I’ve recently just been squeezing half a lemon on top because the avocado adds enough of that soft texture to not need much more or any dressing…for me at least! If you need a little more I would throw on some olive oil or my specialty dressing! It is SO easy to bring to work because you don’t have to figure out how to transport dressing when all you need is a lemon!
ALSO after many weeks of making this I have realize that 1.5 bags of spinach (dependent on where you buy your groceries), 1 pack of each berry and 1 thing of feta is the perfect amount to get you a TON of salads! I have been prepping the chicken on Sundays to make it even easier in the mornings.
Besides being kinda festive for 4th of July you should 100% try this out, no one has told me they don’t like it!

Bedroom makeover with Havenly

I am SO excited to finally share my bedroom with y’all! I teamed up with Havenly a few months ago to create the room of my dreams! Decor is something I love but would not say I am best at, I know what I like and what I don’t but cannot seem to bring it all together!
After moving into my new place I knew I finally wanted to make decorating a priority, but I had a blank slate (TG), idea but not real grasp on the big picture of my room! With Havenly you answer a few questions about your interior style and quickly are matched with a designer!
You let them know the pieces you already have, your budget and the look you are wanting to achieve! She created mood boards for me that allowed her to gage what I LOVED and what I hated, because in all honestly she took my use of the word trendy too far. But having things I didn’t like in those initials rounds of design is good because it allowed her to understand my style more! I knew there were some things I really wanted, a new large mirror for my desk, side table and pillows to give my bed some color! Other than that I was open to all of her suggestions and ideas…including some thing I already own which made me realize how much she understood my style…!
Those few rounds of mood boards and a final design that has all the final product in a mock up costs under $100! So for me and probably a lot of you out there you know what you like and have an idea of where you can get it but can’t see it all together…will that stripe pillow REALLY match the water colors? Yes, yes it will!
After you’re 100% in love with you design it’s time to shop! Havenly makes it so easy because you order everything through their website and their team places the orders at each individual vendor site. So no having to put in your shipping & billing on 5 different websites, just one!
I could not wait for my product to start arriving and making my boring room into a special beautiful place!
My bedroom is such a happy calming place now! I really do get a smile on my face every time I walk in and NOW have the motivation to keep it clean hah!
One of the best things about this experience is that my designer stayed in my budget! She was sourcing items from Target, Wayfair and other affordable sites that made the entire buying process a lot more comfortable…and doable!
Thanks to Havenly you all receive 25% OFF the design fee with the code LOCUS25!
